New episode of the On AIRR podcast is here!

June 26, 2025 by Lorissa Corrie

In this episode of On AIRR, we welcome Dr. Paul Thomas, of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Dr. Thomas shares his journey from immunoparasitology to pioneering TCR repertoire sequencing. The discussion covers the evolution from single-chain TCR sequencing to the development of high-throughput paired sequencing methods, culminating in the TIRTL-seq approach. Dr. Thomas explains the technical and computational challenges in TCR pairing, the innovations that made large-scale studies possible, and the importance of data quality and curation in the field. The episode highlights the impact of these advances on understanding immune responses and the future of AIRR-based diagnostics.

Zooming into the Community III — A Milestone Virtual Gathering!

June 3, 2025 by Lorissa Corrie

On May 21–22, 2025, the AIRR Community came together for our third “Zooming into the Community” virtual meeting, celebrating 10 years of collaborative science and innovation in immune receptor research.

📊 Attendance Highlights:

  • Day 1: 106 registered / 68 attendees
  • Day 2: 131 registered / 82 attendees

This year’s mid-cycle event, themed “Specificity”, sparked critical discussion on defining, measuring, and curating immune receptor specificity. A big thanks to the organizers of the event, the joint Meetings & Communications Sub-Committee, who were building on the success of our past events (Special Event “Response to COVID-19” and Zooming II).

🧠 Event Highlights:

  • Presentations from AIRR Working Groups, Review-Committees, and Sub-Committees on key developments and future directions
  • A special General Assembly celebrating our 10-year anniversary
  • Outstanding invited speakers:
    • Antonio Lanzavecchia (INGM, Italy)
    • Victor Greiff (University of Oslo, Norway)
    • Maria Rodriguez Martinez (Yale University, USA)
    • David Klatzmann (Sorbonne Université, France)
