AIRR Community Curation Task Force

The AIRR Data Commons (ADC) is network of geographically distributed repositories that provides public AIRR-seq study data. The ADC adheres to the FAIR principles of data sharing, and it provides study, subject, and sample repertoire metadata as well as annotated rearrangements sequences in AIRR Standard data formats. The ADC has demonstrated its utility to the broader research community with almost 300 combined citations to the ADC API, iReceptor, and VDJServer papers.

However, despite this success, the number of studies that have been curated according to the MiAIRR standard and made available in the AIRR Data Commons has become stagnant. Increasing number of AIRR-seq studies are being published, yet they are not being made available in the ADC. To overcome this, the AIRR Community has approved the creation of a Curation Task Force, under the guidance of the Common Repository Working Group. The goal of the task force is to gather all AIRR-seq studies, to curate those studies according to the MiAIRR standard, and to publish the data in the ADC.

Why get involved with Curation Task Force?

  • Exposure to the large body of published articles that generate AIRR-seq data.
  • Learn about the MiAIRR and the AIRR Standards.
  • Curate and make public any AIRR-seq data for your own lab.
  • Contribute to the public good.
  • Use the large body of data for your own research.

Both biologists and bioinformaticians are desired for the task force! We will perform recorded webinars with training about the curation process:  search techniques to find appropriate articles, to find and assess the availability of AIRR-seq data for a publication, and how to extract the appropriate information from a publication and other sources.
